Latest policy: Recommended recipients and delivery schedule of COVID-19 vaccine in Vietnam during 2021

 After assessment and approval of the first vaccine protecting against Covid-19 to be delivered in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health issues the Decision No. 1210/QD-BYT, approving the Plan to receive, preserve, allocate and use COVID-19 vaccines secured through the COVAX Facility for the 2021-2022 period. In this Plan, the recommended vaccine delivery schedule in 2021 is informed.

This schedule is shown in the Appendix I to the Decision No. 1210 as follows:

1. 1st Quarter/2021:

- Quantity:  Approximately 1.2 million of doses for about 600,000 persons.

3. 3rdand 4th Quarter/2021:

According to a notice, COVAX Facility is securing vaccines to be delivered to countries for vaccination of 20% of population at maximum. COVAX Facility plans to secure the rest as of the third quarter of 2021, specifically as follows:

- Quantity:  Approximately 33 million of doses for about 16 million of persons.

- Beneficiaries:

In addition, the Decision populations needing to be vaccinated that are arranged in priority order, depending on epidemic situations and in the context of limited vaccines available in Vietnam, including:

- Health workers.

- Staff engaged in disease prevention and control activities (e.g. steering committees at all levels, staff working at quarantine zones, reporters, etc.)

- Diplomatic, customs staff and immigration officers.

- Military force.

- Police.

- Teachers.

- Persons aged more than 65 years.

- Persons rendering essential services, such as aviation, transport and tourism; electricity, water supply,…

- Persons with chronic conditions.

- People wishing to take business trips, study or work abroad.

- People living in epidemic hit areas that are identified based on epidemiologic studies.
