LG Display invests 1.5 billion dollar to Vietnam

LG Display will invest USD 1.5 billion to build a new plant in Trang Due Industrial Park, Hai Phong, Vietnam.

LG Display (LGD) is a subsidiary of LG Group from South Korea, which is producing LCD and OLED screen for electronic equipment. In advance, they entered into the contract of leasing 40.4 Hectares of Trang Due Industrial Park which belongs to Saigon-HaiPhong Industrial Park JSC (SHP).
Now, LGD has nine manufacturing facilities and seven assembly facilities at South Korea, China, Poland and Mexico.
According to Trang Due Industrial Park, after a long time of survey, LGD decided to select Trang Due Industrial Park to be the place that they are building the tenth plant with more than 1.5 billion dollar budget.
In this April, the project will start construction after achieving final agreement and signing contract; and as expected, the factory will go into operation in the early of 2017.
Some experts believe that the project of manufacturing OLED screen will bring a large opportunity to Economy of Vietnam, especially create approximately 6,000 jobs for local workers.
This is the second project of LG group to invest to Trang Due Industrial Part. In March 2015, this group opened a combination of large-scale technology plants in order to assembly technology products such as televisions, mobile phones, washing machines, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, digital devices for automotive, serving both export and domestic consumption.
SHP said, Trang Due Industrial Park attracted more fifty domestic and international investment projects with the total registered capital nearly USD 2.5 billion. Inside that, 27 subsidiaries of LG Electronics Group invest total registered capital over USD 731 billion.
